HILL 304 OR DEAD MAN

The combats at the left bank of the Meuse between French and German toops have been seen as the most cruel fights during the battle of Verdun.

MONTFAUCON D´ARGONNE

The American memorial build near by the ruins of the church of Montfaucon

Is an impressive tower with a height of 58 m with a statue of Liberty on its top.

The memorial testifies the engagement of the American First Army at the Meuse-river.

ROMAGNE SOUS MONTFAUCON

The American troops under the command of General Pershing were engaged in the great attacks  of 1918 and had to pay a hard tribute.

The American graveyard with 14246 graves is another testimony of war.

VAUQUOIS

Vauquois a hill with a village on its top is a natural observatory for which French and German struggled with fierce horrible trench fights but also a merciless mining war. Enormous craters testify it in an eloquent manner.

An unique net of galleries and tunnels were dig into the hill in order to reach and destroy the adversaries trench by subterranean detonations.
